The Issue with Hair?
Quote of the Week:
“Do not be mislead…Bad company corrupts good character.”
Ebonics Lesson of the week:
s -> zSpoken Ebonics tends to morph the s sound of certain words towards or into a z sound. Written Ebonics spells words, where s is pronounced as or similar to a z sound, phonetically as a z. This convention of spelling is particularly used in plural endings.alwayz, boyz, chainz, companiez, dayz, dreamz, eyez, ideaz, mindz, noize, outlawz, rapperz, skillz, streetz, azz, visualiza, wize, threadz, howz, bizniz, becoz, etc.
Lesson of the week: oh the hair!!!
Hair. We all have it. But I have particularly noticed a trend in hair with regards to men. Many men are becoming scared of their own hair. L Oh! the tragedy! There is nothing wrong with hair, wherever it may be. Do you remember those awkward moments in middle school health classes? Sometimes even separating the boys and girls and reading something like this?
“I am a boy (man), what should I do about this hair (especially facial hair)?During puberty, boys start to grow longer, darker and coarser hair on their legs, genitals, arms, face and chest. In boys and men, the first hair that grows on your face is quite soft, slow-growing and usually on the upper lip and chin. Even if you don't want to grow a moustache and beard, you probably won't need to remove this very often. Later on, you will get darker, thicker, faster-growing hair over a larger area of your face. If you don't want to grow a moustache and beard, you will probably need to remove this hair every day. Most boys and men remove this facial hair by shaving with razors, which can be bought at chemists and supermarkets. Scraping the skin every day with a sharp blade can cause it to become irritated, which is why most boys and men use shaving foam or shaving gel to help the blade slide over the skin more easily.”
So I had to go back to health in 6th grade, but you understand the point. What is it with men, do you forget sometimes that this is just part of the maturing process? It is natural and normal for you and your comrades to have hair. It is natural. But somehow, with the new overhaul in beauty myth and the phenomenon of Baywatch, young men are growing up thinking that their dads are grizzly bears. This is a lie. Note that there are varying degrees of hairiness, but no matter that degree it is normal. So those of you who think that you have to shave your chest or mess with the lot of it. Those of you who wont wear shorts cause of it, stop. You are beautiful and it’s all good. Love yourself enough to love your hair. It’s there so mind as well deal with it. And if a girl tries to hate on you, let me know and I will set her straight for giving into the hype.

Myths are not fair. They are misperceptions that generalize characteristics or behavior, usually negatively, about a particular group, in this case men. And when a man meets a woman who consciously or unconsciously believes one of these myths, he finds himself in a constant struggle to defend himself against a stereotype that may have nothing to do with him.
Well guys, as much as you don't like to be unfairly stereotyped, neither do women. To really understand women means to see us as we really are, not as we've been portrayed to be. And no matter how hard you may try not to be influenced by generalizations about the opposite sex, some of what you've heard or been exposed to is bound to have an effect on how you interpret or misinterpret a woman's behavior -- even the woman you love dearly.
The Seven Myths Men Believe about Women
Women are never satisfied
Women are high maintenance
Women want to control men
Women are jealous and possessive
Women are too emotional
Women who appear to be strong and competent don't need to be taken care of
Women want to rob men of their freedom
(Okay there are some pigeons like this, but don’t apply that to all women!!!!)
Mama’s Korner:
A senior discount-
As your parent ages there will be a change in things that makes them happy. I call my mama to let her know that I was not going to be going home for Easter this year L although she was sad, she continues in the conversation to talk to me about the discount. No people not the five-finger discount. As a senior citizen, there are some places and stores that give you discounts. My mom’s boyfriend (oh that is so weird to say) had another birfday, so I guess that makes him 76. She wanted to buy him some stuff and when she picked the gift, not only did she get a 10% discount for a special one day sale, but as it turned out, she got a discount of 20 additional percentage for her being old. She ranted and raved about the deal. I just had to laugh. Only my mama would take that deal of the century and make it a 20-minute conversation. And so it was long enuf to mention in the mama’s corner!!!
Have a great week!!!
